Author, Poet, Writing Teacher, Book Consultant

About me
I write books for young adults and poems. In addition to Writing Classes, I offer Manuscript Consultations. I don’t think harsh critique makes us better. I believe in nurturing writers like terribly creative plants.
Karen Finneyfrock is the author of two young adult novels, The Sweet Revenge of Celia Door and Starbird Murphy and the World Outside, both published by Viking Children’s Books. She is the author of the poetry collection Ceremony for the Choking Ghost and co-editor of the anthology Courage: Daring Poems for Gutsy Girls (Write Bloody Publishing).
She’s a former Hugo House Writer-in-Residence, an alumna of Hedgebrook, the Bloedel Reserve and Mineral School, and a recipient of grants from The City of Seattle Office of Arts and Culture, 4Culture and Artist Trust. As a spoken word artist, Karen competed on numerous National Slam Teams, toured nationally and internationally, and acted as a Cultural Envoy for the US Department of State.
